Bonds understands that customers expect service regardless of disruptions caused by factors outside of our control. Examples include but are not limited to catastrophic weather, major road accidents and heightened security levels or police operations. To mitigate business interruption risks, Bonds has a Crisis Management Plan for incidents caused by interruptions to power, IT systems failure or communication failures. Bonds provide the following contingencies for Crisis Management / Disaster Recovery Planning to ensure minimal client impact.

Business interruption insurance: Bonds has business interruption insurance which provides for the use of serviced office space for continuance of business in case of fire or major event that renders national operations centre inoperable.

Power: In our major data-centre, Bonds has an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) and diesel generator backup. In the event of power outage, our backup power system is hardwired into server room, national call centre and operations. This ensures uninterrupted operations throughout times of power outage. Backup generators are subject to scheduled monthly testing and service. Relevant staff are trained in the use of backup power, including periodic test drills.

Communications: All business communications are conducted over secure VPN or Frame Relay linkages. Primary fibre-optic connections have dual data servers for immediate switch over to backup. Head-office and all branches possess SIM phone communication backup via GSM network. Branch network possess full SIM backup to remote battery powered devices in the event of major network (inter-city) failure. Fleet communications backed up by auto SMS communication to mobiles via GSM network. Manual run sheet and other processes in place for data or communication outage.

Off-site server: Bonds have a secondary IBM computer server, fully configured and backed up in an offsite location which is able to operate critical business systems in the event the national operations centre being inoperable.

Data protection and backup: Bonds has a daily process for system backup and two copies of system backup are always updated and held off-site.

Staffing: Full off-site operations capability is achieved via trained team members with full remote access via VPN. This provides ability to dispatch and manage full workload from remote location in event of local Bonds office off-line. Bonds operates with 24/7 off-site operations capability and this is achieved with two senior operations despatchers who work remotely (off-site) to provide full operations coverage after-hours and weekends.

In-field incidents: Bonds scale of fleet combined with GPS tracking enables drivers to be routed to avoid problem areas as much as possible and to assure high service levels.
